Universidad de San Carlos de Guatemala, Colección de Mamíferos (USAC-USACM)

The mammals collection at San Carlos University (USAC) is part of the Biological Collections System administrated by the School of Biology, Facultad de Ciencias Químicas y Farmacia. The collection is focused in the study of the native mammalian fauna of the country and is composed mainly by prepared study skins, skeletons and fluid preserved specimens of small mammals (mice, bats and shrews, among others). The collections includes approximately 6,500 catalogued specimens and a series of tissue samples (ca. 1000) for molecular studies. The collection includes two holotypes and a series of paratypes of mice and bats.
